This site is written for drivers Inside the Beltline, the part of Raleigh circled by I-440. Impex Auto Glass is based in Greensboro, with a second shop in Charlotte, and in Raleigh its service is mobile: the technician brings the glass to wherever your car is parked, and Impex helps with the insurance claim that pays for it. Below are the neighborhoods this site covers and what helps a visit go smoothly in each.

Tell us where the car is
The damage, the vehicle and how to reach you. Add the neighborhood and the kind of parking, and Impex will plan the visit around it.
The Beltline, and why it matters for glass
I-440, the Raleigh Beltline, is a 16.4-mile partial beltway around central Raleigh, and ‘Inside the Beltline’ is the local name for the city it encloses. It is also where a lot of windshield damage starts. Around it run Raleigh’s main roads: I-40, I-87, US 1 (Capital Boulevard in East Raleigh), US 70 into Garner and US 401 south toward Fuquay-Varina. Busy highways mean stones thrown up by tires, and North Carolina takes that seriously enough to require trucks hauling rock, gravel or stone over 7,500 pounds to keep the load six inches below the walls and covered by a tarp, under G.S. 20-116(g).
A stone strike from any of those roads is a comprehensive glass loss in the NC Department of Insurance’s list. Our page on whether comprehensive covers a windshield explains what that means for the claim.
Downtown Raleigh
Downtown is the state capital’s center, and most cars there are parked in office decks, surface lots or on the street. For a visit, tell Impex the name of the deck or the street, the level, and how long the car can stay. Some decks have rules about work being done inside them, so check with the building before the day. A spot on an upper level with room to open the doors fully is ideal.
Five Points
Where a home in Five Points has a driveway or a spot beside the house, that suits a mobile windshield replacement well. If the car lives under a carport or in a garage, say so: the adhesive that holds a windshield in needs the right conditions, and cover overhead keeps a rainy-day visit on the calendar.
Oakwood
In Oakwood, if the car is parked at the curb rather than in a driveway, curbside work is possible when there is safe room around the car. Tell Impex which side of the street it is on and whether a driveway nearby could be used for the hour or so the job takes.
Glenwood South
If you live in a Glenwood South apartment building with a parking deck or garage, say which building, which level and whether a guest needs to be let in. If it is a side window rather than the windshield, Impex says the job takes 30 to 60 minutes and the car can be driven straight away.
Cameron Village
Around Cameron Village, cars are parked in shopping center lots, apartment lots and on residential streets. If you want the work done while you are at work or running errands, say where the car will be and for how long. Impex puts a windshield at about one hour, plus a short curing period, with most cars back on the road within two hours.
Hillsborough Street
Along Hillsborough Street, parking runs from small lots to on-street spaces and apartment decks. If you are a student or a renter, check the policy that covers the car: it may be a parent’s or a family policy, and the claim is made on that policy. Under G.S. 58-3-180 whoever makes the claim still chooses the repair service.
Just outside the Beltline?
This site is written for the neighborhoods inside I-440, but Impex’s mobile service is not drawn on a map line. Impex describes its reach as all of North Carolina, all of South Carolina and parts of Georgia. If your car is parked just outside the Beltline, send the quote form or call and say where it is.
What every visit needs
- The vehicle’s year, make and model, and the VIN if you can: Impex orders the glass by VIN so the part matches the car.
- Where the car will be, and whether there is cover overhead.
- Your insurer’s name and policy number, and the claim number if you have one.
- Time for the camera: on newer cars Impex calibrates the forward camera on site after the windshield, which it says takes 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Insurer by insurer, the claim steps are on our pages for Progressive windshield replacement, State Farm windshield replacement and GEICO windshield replacement, and full glass coverage explains whether you will pay a deductible.

Questions drivers ask
Does Impex have a shop Inside the Beltline?
No. Impex Auto Glass’s shops are in Greensboro and Charlotte. In Raleigh the service is mobile: the work is done where your car is parked.
Can the work be done in a parking deck?
Often, yes, if there is room around the car and the building allows it. Tell Impex the deck and the level when you book.
What if it rains on the day?
Windshield adhesive needs the right conditions. With cover overhead the visit can usually go ahead; without it, it may be moved to another day.
